T-Mobile Courts Cost-Conscious Users With New Plans, 5-Year Price Lock (2025)

To attract consumers in today’s shaky economy, T-Mobile is debuting a five-year price lock guarantee and new cellular plans designed to offer more bang for your buck.

The new plans include “Experience More and Experience Beyond,” along with four new plansfor Metro by T-Mobile that the company says will offer lower monthly fees.

“Prices have been rising for the last couple of years. That really inspired this set of moves,” says Mike Katz, president of marketing, strategy, and products at T-Mobile. “We wanted to do a couple of things to address the feedback and pain points we’ve been hearing from customers.”

To simplify things, the new plans replace T-Mobile’s previous Go5G Next and Go5G Plus plans. Existing perks, which include unlimited premium data and free Netflix and Apple TV+ subscriptions, will carry over to the updated plans. If you're currently on Go5G Next or Go5G Plus, your plan will remain active unless you choose to switch.

A spec sheet from T-Mobile shows that the Experience More and Experience Beyond plans are cheaper by $5 to $15 per month compared to Go5G, depending on how many lines you have. For families, T-Mobile says the Experience More and Experience Beyond offerings are also about 20% less than rival unlimited data plans from AT&T and Verizon.

That said, the five-year price lock might have some potential loopholes. T-Mobile notes the guarantee applies to the “price for talk, text, and data"—not taxes and fees. The company also told PCMag the price lock "includes wearable/tablets/hotspot lines added to the Experience plan —but we can’t take on the unknowns if say a streaming partner or other third party were to raise the price of their plan."

The T-Mobile “Essentials Saver” option is also sticking around, although it’ll cost $60 per month for one line, up from $50. Still, the price remains at $90 if you subscribe to two or three lines.

On the Metro front, the company is introducing four new plans—Metro Starter, Metro Starter Plus, Metro Flex Unlimited, and Metro Flex Unlimited Plus—which all feature the price lock.

The Metro Starter and Starter Plus plans are $100 per month for four lines, down from the current $130. The Starter Plus plan looks particularly appealing since it includes unlimited data.

“Metro is bringing back its classic $40 PERIOD deal with Metro Starter Plus," the company says. "New customers who bring their number to Metro can get a free 5G phone and a plan for just $40 a month—no AutoPay required and no added taxes or fees."

Meanwhile, the Metro Flex Unlimited and Metro Flex Unlimited Plus plans pack in more perks by offering an Amazon Prime subscription, 100GB of free cloud storage with Google One, and a limited amount of hotspot data.

“Going forward, those Metro plans will be our new plans for customers,” Katz says. “We wanted to simplify the choices, and let customers know that T-Mobile has always been about the best value.”

Katz also says T-Mobile prepared the price lock on its own, and not in reaction to rival Verizon announcing its own 3-year price guarantee. (Comcast recently announced a five-year lock on Xfinity Internet plans, too.) “It also doesn’t mean that we’re planning to change prices in five years either,” he adds.

Both the Experience More and Experience Beyond also include free access tosatellite connectivity through SpaceX’s Starlink. The service will officially launch in July under the “T-Satellite with Starlink” brand name. However, Experience More subscribers will only receive access until the end of this year before they’ll need to start paying an extra $15 per month for it.
